A Brief Overview of Motifs in Moby Dick Book Review - 825 Words

A Brief Overview of Motifs in Moby Dick Book Review (Book Review Sample) Content: Students NameProfessors NameCourseDateA Brief Overview of Motifs in Moby DickThe book, Mody Dick is a literal work in which Merville narrates the sensational adventure of Ahab and his crewmembers in the Pequod. As the story unfolds, the author makes use of different literal devices, making an understanding of the fundamental and universal ideas explored in the work complex. However, there are structures, contrasts, and literary devices that are recurrent: motifs. We shall navigate four of the motifs that may aid in clarifying the concealed themes. It is evident that the issue of racism is quite repetitive. At first, the author depicts the Pequod as an Isle of equality and harmony, amid the racial diversity of the crew. Racism emerges when every white crew in the Pequod has to rely on a non-white harpooner. These are the crew members who do the filthy and risky cores aboard the whaling ship: Flask mistreats Daggoo to win the prized whale; the analogy of Pips worthless ness underpins racism. His worthlessness comes out when he is left in the middle of the ocean after he jumps from a whaleboat. In chapter two, we find Ishmaels lateness making him spend some night in Bedford. He stumbles into a church inhabited by wailing and weeping African Americans. This statement has racial connotations, where it depicts African Americans as backward: rather than get divine consolation in a church, they end up weeping and wailing. The title of the sermon further emphasizes racism in the book: darkness is black. Queequeg is a dark-complexioned  harpooner. The use of the quotation marks means hes unlike other harpooners, who are ordinarily white. In the same episode, Queequeg is depicted as a savage, who were deemed uncivilized, un-groomed and rude people, well beyond the imagination of the whites.Cannibalism is first brought into the limelight when Ishmael settles at Spouters-inn. The oil painting on the wall is a depiction of a whale attacking a ship. Since t he whale and the ship thrive in the marine environment, the two are metaphorically depicted as members of the same species. The devouring act of the whale on the ship is cannibalistic. Ishmael at first perceives Queequeg as strange and probably dangerous. He later decides to share the bed with the sober cannibal. Ishmael sets to the sea as a form of self-annihilation. The author depicts him as one who is out to cannibalize oneself.Merville starts out on leadership when he recalls the way Ahab calls on the crew and gives instructions to the mission of the voyage. As a leader he binds them for the mission: places a bet on a gold doubloon and performs a ritual. Merville stylistically also uses flashback to highlight on leadership. In chapter twelve, Queequeg explains that he is the rightful heir to the throne in his homeland. Leadership in his homeland is depicted to be in conflict with Christianity: the latter makes impure and defiles the former. Ahab, the captain of Pequod, represe nts as a legendary hero. His overconfidence makes him defy common sense and assumes a god-like character: he leads the crew with the aim of destroying the evil linked to Mody Dick. Ahab proclaims he will be the fulfiller and prophet of Moby Dick&acir...

Further, the business plan expresses that the process of implementing this business would start from the month of the Oct but the sales of the restaurant would start from the December and the sales of the food and the meal would enhance day by day. The fixed cost of the comapny would be lesser as the less space is required by the restaurant to start up tie business and labour of the comapny would also be lesser to manage the cost of the comapny. For this business report, marketing strategies has been evaluated and it has been found that how the business must be implemented in the market and set a better position in the market and in the mind of the customers so that the better market position could be found through the company. The following marketing strategies could be adopted by the comapny to manage the marketing position and set a better market for the FOOD PLANET: Firstly, the business is required to set the price of the food and its beverages in such a manner that the entire market and opportunities could be grabbed in the market. The comapny is suggested to adopt the competitive pricing strategy. This strategy depict that the price must be set according to the market condition. This strategy would help the comapny to grab more opportunities from the market (Simmonds, 2010). Further, the business is required to set the business at a location from the entire market and opportunities could be grabbed in the market. The comapny is suggested to adopt the target strategy. This strategy depict that the comapny must start the business at the place from where the target market could be grabbed easily (Shim, Siegel and Shim, 2011). In addition, the business is required to set the promotional strategy of the food and its beverages in such a manner that the entire market and opportunities could be grabbed in the market. The comapny is suggested to adopt the print media to promote the business. This strategy depict that the comapny could take the help of Flyers, newspapers, magazines etc. to promote the business (Weaver, Weston and Weaver, 2001). This strategy would help the comapny to grab more opportunities from the market. Lastly, the business is required to analyze and set the products and the drinks in such a manner that the competitive product could be offered in the market. The comapny is suggested to do the competitive analysis and set the products list accordingly. This strategy depict that the product must be set according to the market condition (Hoque, 2002). This strategy would help the comapny to grab more opportunities from the market. Financial feasibility is the process in which it is identified that whether the business would be able to meet the entire expected requirement in the market or in terms of finance? Would the profitability of the comapny be according to the expectation? (Hansen, Mowen and Guan, 2007) How the performance of the comapny would would be in terms of finance etc. This feasibility study has been done to analyze and identify the performance of the new business in the Australian market. According to this report, it has been analyzed that it is required for every business to identify and analyze the financial feasibility so that the goals and objectives of the comapny could be got easily. Break up analysis is a study which is performance by the companies and the start up to analyze the minimum sales which must be done to reach over a point where the loss and profit of the comapny would be nil. It is the point where the company would not face nay loss. At this point, the revenues and the expenses of the comapny are at equilibrium point. This report explains the user about the minimum sales. The calculations of breakeven point are as follows: calculation of break even analysis Total Per unit Contribution $ 2,76,000 9.2 Fixed cost $ 1,80,000 $ 1,80,000 Break even 0.652173913 19565.2174 In amount In units This breakeven point depict that the comapny is required to sell at least 19,565 units of the meal and the food to the clients to reach over a point where the expenses and the revenues of the comapny would be similar. This report depict that it becomes important for every company to analyze this point (Bromwich and Bhimani, 2005). In this start up, the contribution of the comapny would be $ 2,76,000 and $ 9.2 per unit. The fixed cost of the comapny would be $ 1,80,000 which depict that the comapny is required to earn that much amount that the fixed cost could be covered and if the comapny would sell more than 19565 units than the comapny would be able to earn profits (Garrison et al, 2010). This depict that at the initial stage, comapny must be concerned about the breakeven point but after a period of time, when this level has been achieved, comapny must enhance the level of the sales so that the profits could be earned by the company. After analyzing the breakeven level, the profitability position of the comapny has been analyzed that depict that once the comapny reach over a point where the expenses and the revenues of the company has been equal, it becomes mandatory for the company to think more and enhance the level of the profitability position (Davies and Crawford, 2011). The calculation of the profits of the comapny in next 6 months is as follows: Calculation of profit Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Total sales $ 1,35,000 $ 1,35,000 $ 1,35,000 $ 1,35,000 Less: Material 1 Cost 15000 15000 15000 15000 15000 15000 Material 2 Cost 14000 14000 14000 14000 14000 14000 Labour cost 15000 15000 15000 15000 15000 15000 Contribution Less: Fixed cost $ 55,000 $ 25,000 $ 25,000 $ 25,000 $ 25,000 $ 25,000 Profit -99000 -69000 $ 66,000 $ 66,000 $ 66,000 $ 66,000 This profitability position depict that the comapny is required to sell more than 19,565 units of the meal and the food to the clients to enhance the level of the profits in the company. This report depict that it becomes important for every company to make more profits after a period of time (Damodaran, 2011). In this start up, the total sales of the comapny would be start from the December. The fixed cost of the comapny would be different in the first month and from that $ 25,000 would be paid by the comapny. The contribution of the comapny would be different from first two months. According to the evaluation and the calculations, it has been analyzed that the total profits of the comapny would be $ 96000 in 6 months of the comapny (Bodie, 2013). Following table depict about the cash flow of the company: Cash Flow analysis Cash Flow Analysis Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Beginning cash balance -$ 25,000 -$ 1,24,000 -$ 1,93,000 -$ 1,94,500 -$ 1,42,000 -$ 89,500 Add: budgeted cash receipts $ 67,500 $ 1,21,500 $ 1,21,500 $ 1,21,500 Total cash available for use -$ 25,000 -$ 1,24,000 -$ 1,25,500 -$ 73,000 -$ 20,500 $ 32,000 Less: cash disbursements Material 1 Cost $ 15,000 $ 15,000 $ 15,000 $ 15,000 $ 15,000 $ 15,000 Material 2 Cost $ 14,000 $ 14,000 $ 14,000 $ 14,000 $ 14,000 $ 14,000 Labour cost $ 15,000 $ 15,000 $ 15,000 $ 15,000 $ 15,000 $ 15,000 Fixed cost $ 55,000 $ 25,000 $ 25,000 $ 25,000 $ 25,000 $ 25,000 Total disbursements $ 99,000 $ 69,000 $ 69,000 $ 69,000 $ 69,000 $ 69,000 Cash surplus -$ 1,24,000 -$ 1,93,000 -$ 1,94,500 -$ 1,42,000 -$ 89,500 -$ 37,000 budgeted ending cash balance -$ 1,24,000 -$ 1,93,000 -$ 1,94,500 -$ 1,42,000 -$ 89,500 -$ 37,000 This depict the cash flow position of the comapny must be required to manage in a proper manner. This depict that the financial feasibility of the company must be rectified. Long term goals and exiting strategies: Further, the long term objectives and the strategies for achieving those objectives have been analyzed. Through the business plan, it has been found that the main objective of the comapny is to enhance the level of the sales, make loyal customers mad open franchises in the country. The main function and the goal of the comapny are to enhance the level of the profits and make loyal customers through offering them the best of the products. For achieving the long term goals of the comapny, comapny is required to make various new strategies sand polices such as promotional strategies, products strategies, corporate social responsibilities, sponsorship, best taste, hygienic food etc. These strategies would help the comapny to grab more market share and would help the comapny to achieve the level of the objectives and the goals of the comapny (Horngren, 2009). Further, it has been found that entry and exiting both are easy in a restaurant business. If the FOOD PLANET wants to exit from the industry than it could easily exit from the industry through sell out the shares of the restaurant to someone else or through winding up the restaurant. It is the perfect competition market from where the entry and existing could be done and no special strategies and policies are required to do the same (Kaplan and Atkinson, 2015). Through analyzing the above business plan, calculations, break even analysis, cash flow analysis, profitability position etc, it has been found that the business would perform better in the market. It would be easier for the comapny to reach over a breakeven point and make extra profits from the market (Lumby and Jones, 2007). The comapny is required to set a good strategies plan for the debtors receivable collection as this is impacting over the cash flow of the comapny and due to which the cash flow of the comapny is negative. Further, it has been found that the overall performance of the business would be way better in the Australian market and the goals and objectives of the comapny could be achieved easily and quickly. Further it has been analyzed that various challenges and strategies could be faced by the company. According to this business plan the financial and marketing feasibility of the company depict that the performance and the profitability position of the comapny would be better. Though, it has been found that huge competition is there in the market in the hospitality industry. It would also be tough for the entrepreneur to get the amount for the start up (Moles, Parrino and Kidwekk, 2011). Various shopping malls are already full and thus they do not have space for another stall. Further, it has also been found that the company is required to manage and set the business plan in such a way that the entire Australian people could be the target market. The food and beverages of the restaurant must be in such a manner that it could be liked by the children, youngsters and the old people (Lord, 2007). Through this report, it has been found that the performance and the profitability of the comapny would be way better if the comapny resolve these issues. Rest, the business plan is quite good and would offer the high profits to the comapny in near future. Conclusion: To conclude, this business plan would offer the high profits to the entrepreneur. This study depict that the performance and the position of the comapny depict that the business plan would offer the high returns to the entrepreneur. Further it has been analyzed that various challenges and strategies could be faced by the company. According to this business plan the financial and marketing feasibility of the company depict that the performance and the profitability position of the comapny would be better. Though, it has been found that huge competition is there in the market in the hospitality industry. It would also be tough for the entrepreneur to get the amount for the start up. Trifles Essays - Trifles, A Jury Of Her Peers,

Trifles Trifles, written in the early 1900s by Susan Glaspell, is a one-act play illustrating how women can overreact to their own emotions, allowing these emotions to cloud their judgment. This is shown by describing the feelings of two women who are willing to defend a suspect, blame the victim, and go so far as to hide evidence, to protect another woman from being charged with murdering her husband. Mrs. Wright is the suspect in the murder of her husband, who was strangled in his sleep, found with the rope still around his neck. The sheriff and an attorney are examining Mrs. Wrights home for evidence. Mr. Henderson, the attorney, speaking of Mrs. Wright says, Heres a nice mess, ..Dirty towels! Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? (Kirszner Theres a great deal of work to be done on a farm. Those towels get dirty awful quick. Mens hands arent always as clean as they might be. (1166) She says this even though she hardly knows Mrs. Wright. She admits this when she says, Ive not seen much of her of late years. Ive not been in this house its more than a year. (1166) Even so, Mrs. Hale feels protective toward Mrs. Wright and defends her. Mr. Peters, the sheriff, and Mr. Henderson, go upstairs to look for a motive. Mrs. Hale is left talking to Mrs. Peters, the sheriffs wife, and they begin to put themselves in the shoes of the suspect. They imagine how she must have felt living a life in a home that .. never seemed a very cheerful place (1166) ..its a lonesome place and always was, ..not having children makes less work - but it makes a quiet house. (1171) They discuss Mr. Wright as if he were a cruel man, he was a hard man, ..like a raw wind that gets to the bone.(1171) After hearing this, Mrs. Peters compares how Mrs. Wright must have felt with a memory of her own past. I know what stillness is. When we homesteaded in Dakota, and my first baby died after he was two years old, and me with no other then I know what stillness is. (1173) There is a sense of pity for the suspect, anger toward the victim, as if he must have deserved to die. While talking, the women find a fancy box belonging Mrs. Wright. Inside the box, is what they believe to be Mrs. Wrights dead pet bird. They realize that somebody wrung its neck (1172) Remembering a similar incident in her life, Mrs. Peters says, When I was a girl my kitten there was a boy took a hatchet, and before my eyes, ..If they hadnt held me back I would have hurt him. (1172) They place the dead bird back in the box, and then, surprisingly, they hide the box. You can almost see whats going on in the mind of these two women as they must be imagining poor Mrs. Wright, horrified that her awful husband killed her bird, then she must have snapped and strangled him to end her own suffering. The men come back in, not yet finding a motive, Mr. Henderson says, its all perfectly clear except a reason for doing it, .. something to show something to make a story about a thing that would connect up with this strange way of doing it(1173) The men then go to another room, leaving the women alone. Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale know that the bird could be just the motive they are looking for. Mrs. Hale rises, hands tight together, looking intensely at Mrs. Peters, whose eyes make a slow turn, finally meeting Mrs. Hales (1174) They look back at box containing the dead bird. Here is evidence that could possibly help convict Mrs. Wright for murder, their emotions running high, they decide to protect her, to get rid of the evidence. Mrs. Hale snatches the box and puts it in the pocket of her big coat. Mrs. Hale doesnt really know the suspect and has never known the victim. Mrs. Peters is

The Hemispheres Adaptability to Function Independently

The Hemispheres Adaptability to Function Independently Physiologically; the right side of the brain deals with neurological impulse for the left side of the body and the inverse is true. In his â€Å"split-brain† research on an epileptic patient, Roger Sperry (1973) (cited in Dan Eden, n.d) demonstrated that with the severing of their communication connection the two hemispheres could function distinctively.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The Hemispheres Adaptability to Function Independently specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More For instance the right eye and hand could name an item, like a pen, but the subject could not determine its use. On the other hand the left eye and hand could demonstrate and determine its use but could not determine its name. In his further studies to establish the functional map of the brain, Sperry (1973) (cited in Eden, n.d) supposes the existence of two nature of thought, namely the verbal and the non-verbal, which have their basis in th e left and the right brain hemispheres respectively. The chart below illustrates the function mapping of the hemisphere (Eden, n.d). LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS uses logic detail oriented facts rule words and language present and past math and science can comprehend knowing acknowledges order/pattern perception knows object name reality based forms strategies practical safe uses feeling big picture oriented imagination rules symbols and images present and future philosophy religion can get it (i.e. meaning) believes appreciates spatial perception knows object function fantasy based presents possibilities impetuous risk taking The two Hemispheres functional integration Personality can be thought of as the product of the extent to which hemispheres associate or dissociate. For instant, criticality and orderliness is an attributed of the left hemisphere; while the artistic, creativity and unpredictability is that of the right. However, every individual integrate s particular sides of the brain in their various daily activities based on factors such as education, age and experiences. Thus, the involvement of a specific hemisphere in different circumstances determines our character and molds our personality (Eden, 2008). Studies have established that majority of the children creativity rank high (right hemispheres attribute) prior to schooling. However, only 10% of the children would retain their creativity by the age of seven, since the current educational system emphasizes on the left brain characteristics like mathematics, language and logic than on creativity (Eden, 2008). Despite their function lateralization, the hemispheres do not perform independently, but communicate via the corpus callosum. Nevertheless, this association does not operate on equality basis because one hemisphere usually dominates over the other. Thus, individuals can either be left or right handed. Normally, the left hemisphere is considered the dominant hemisphere ( Ball, 1998).Advertising Looking for essay on psychology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Implications for the cognitive research neuroscientist Owing to the obstacles of direct methods in neurological studies of a particular behavior, neurological scientists have render use of indirect methods, such as handedness technique to establish the dominant hemisphere. However, the understanding of how this methods work poses a challenge to many research neuroscientists, in which practical and theoretical implications are, attached (Ball, 1998). However, distinction are not absolute, thereby necessitating verification of a patients’ match to the right or left hemisphere profile before a brain surgeons excise an area of an epileptic brain to avoid causing major impairments. To achieve this objective, many methods have been developed to allow the evaluation of activities of the two hemispheres in life subjects (Ball, 199 8). The first technique was known as the Wada test, coined after a neurologist name Juhn Wada. It involves the injection of sodium amorbarbital into either the left or right carotid artery. Consequently, the hemisphere which corresponds to the injection becomes numb, allowing the doctor to carry out language test on the conscious hemisphere (Ball, 1998). These and other techniques developed for this purpose are expensive and dangerous. Easier methods of evaluating lateralization must be opted for. Thus handedness method has been opted for by many neuroscientists in their approach to the relevant psychological issue. The essence for this choice is the fact that right-handedness implies that the left hemisphere dominates and vice versa. Apparently, this technique has proven to be the most convenient method of determining the dominant hemisphere (Ball, 1998). Reference List Ball, J. (1998). Business Intelligence System modeling Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Business Intelligence System modeling - Essay Example In order to remain relevant in a competitive business environment, an organization should have a strong change management strategy that must influence all departments within an organization. In this business model, management processes, supportive processes and operational processes are interlinked to avoid departmental miscommunication. Centralization of information and data is vital in ensuring appropriate decision making process and implementation of an organization’s policy (Tennet &Economic group, 2005). Exponential Smooth This system modeling technique is essential in making future projections that are essential for risk aversion and developing financial strategies that can withstand economi9c shocks. A business may be affected by fiscal and monetary factors that may lead to inflation. As such, it is important for any business to develop computer programs that can utilize present performance of a business to detect future trends. One of the essential concepts that need to be applied is triple exponential smoothing. This business modeling technique takes into account seasonal changes when projecting possible business performance. This technique analyses the present business trends and uses them to make future projections. It takes into account the time variable (t), sequence of best time estimate for seasonal change (b), seasonal correction factor sequence c1, and the expected proportion of the forecasted trend (c2) (Tennet &Economic group, 2005). Data envelopment Data envelopment enhances productivity. It is essential in management and cost accounting department of an organization. This technique is used to measure the productive efficiency of decision making units in the organization. Data envelopment utilizes the cost variable such as labor cost in searching for the lowest unit in any given cost output in order to promote an efficient frontier. Any organization that does not have an efficient frontier is considered as ineffective in a competitive business environment. Different variables that include quality of service, number of employees, and safety of the environment can be analyzed and compared with other companies in order to determine strategies that can enhance business performance. The advantage of this technique is that it has the ability of accommodating a multiplicity of outputs and inputs. It is also essential in calculating efficiency by allowing the analysis of output level and size in determining efficiency. Cost management i s essential for any business because it maximizes profit and minimizes cost. Since one of the major factors of any business is to increase profit, data envelopment is useful because it promotes efficiency of costing techniques and developing managerial decision based on cost accounting data (Tennet &Economic group, 2005). Non linear programming This method uses mathematical optimization in solving non linear problems. It applies equalities and inequalities systems in determining long term business survival strategies. This technique is essential in forecasting an organization’s income statement to determine its profitability. In a typical non- convex problem, it can be used to optimize a specific expense among different forms of expenses to determine one that is economical. For instance, it can minimize transport cost by selecting a transport system that is economical. This technique is

Assignment #5 Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Assignment #5 - Research Paper Example that have to be applied by the participants to score positively in all other succeeding levels, which concern with changes in behavior, results, and ROI (Phillips, 1997, p.43). In calculating Cost/Benefit Ratio, the total benefits are divided by the cost while for assessing ROI formula, â€Å"the costs are subtracted from the total benefits to produce the net benefits, which are then divided by the costs" (Phillips, 1997, p.43). Thus ROI is the Cost/Benefit Ratio calculation that is done by taking not the total benefits but the net benefits, which is calculated by subtracting total costs from the total benefits. The ROI formula takes into account the tangible costs and benefits alone while Cost/Benefit Ratio incorporates both tangible and intangible costs and benefits, thereby being more comprehensive (Phillips, 1997, p.73). The most often used validity testing approach is content validity just because it is more â€Å"cost-effective† (Phillips, 1997, p.90). This is also so because the â€Å"successful mastery of program content† as is shown by this validity test will be â€Å"related to improved job performance† (Phillips, 1997, p.280). Control groups, customer input and forecasting model are three methods that can be used to isolate the effects of an HRD training program (Phillips, 1997, p.105, 197, 70). In the control group method, it is the â€Å"results of the experimental group, when compared to the control group† that show the â€Å"impact of the HRD program† (Phillips, 1997, p.105). In a training program that is intended to ensure that customers come back to the company, customer input could be a valuable strategy to isolate the effects (Phillips, 1997, p.197). In a situation where â€Å"input and output variables are known†, it is easy to predict the effects out of logical reasoning and common sense and hence the forecasting model will be an effective method to isolate effects (Phillips, 1997, p.70). It is for consistency of data that an evaluator should gather

Three Days of Christmas Essay Example for Free

Three Days of Christmas Essay Mum asked me what I want for Christmas this year. A typical 15 year old girl like me would say new phone, clothes, money but no. You know what I want? I want a nice normal Christmas dinner at home with my dad, mum and two brothers. Like the American white Christmas’ you see on TV instead of the 4 days of Christmas down under. Christmas morning always goes to plan. We all wake up, the boys Tom and Max, especially early. The video camera comes out and dad automatically turns into a director. Smile for the camera† â€Å"No, the photo cannot happen there, the lightning is all wrong. † Tom, Max and Dad end up outside like usual testing out the new sports equipment. Mum and I sit at the kitchen window, sipping our coffee and making bets on how long the equipment will be used until thrown into the shed with all the other forgotten Christmas presents. Lunch is usually at Aunty Sue and Uncle Keith’s place with our overly peppy cousins. They live in Uncle Keith’s childhood house and so it’s dated back to the 1940’s. Their house is ancient. No air conditioner or heating and on a 39 degree Christmas day with a turkey cooking in the oven is equivalent to sitting in a sauna for 3 hours. Tea is at home with the people from lunch and some more other friends and relatives. Tea is a lot more fun and relaxed. I’m not sure if it’s because of the fact that I’m in my own house or that we get to go for a swim to cool off. It’s normally a late now with a lot of champagne bottles and hangovers the next morning. Boxing Day for my family is not about cleaning up the wrapping paper and empty packing but opening up more presents. Boxing Day is designated for my Dad’s side of the family and that’s where the family feuds usually start. My Uncle Sid and Nanna don’t get along too well. Both are strongly opinionated and both hate being wrong. First it starts with the food and then the Boxing Day Test and after that it is just anything and everything that they argue about. When the swear words start to come out, Uncle Sid’s wife Aunt Nelly, moves all the kids outside to the BBQ area. The next day we’re up early to take a lovely hour and a half drive to visit my great aunty and uncle, Kay and Frank. They never had kids so they lots of money saved up. They have just built a new house and it is absolutely beautiful with marble benches, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 lounge rooms and a study. I love going to their house, not only to see it but because they spoil us rotten. Actually now that I think back on it, my 3 days of Christmas isn’t all that bad. As much as bouncing around from place to place annoys me, there are some pretty good advantages to it all. Even though I may gain 15 kilos after the 3 days but the food is mouth-watering and I don’t have the will power to stop myself. Of course 3 days of non-stop presents is nothing to complain about and being surrounded by my gorgeous family, my smile never leaves my lips. I might go change my wish list because who knows how long I have left with these wonderful people. I shouldn’t be taking the Christmas holidays for granted because I may be jealous of other families traditional Christmas’s but they may be jealous of my weird yet amazing 3 days of Christmas.

Raluca is from Bucharest, Romania. At the age of seven, her family had a computer, a library, and more than a majority of the time, quality food to eat. Raluca’s parents believed in order for her to succeed in the free market economy, education was critical. Throughout the film, it was evident that Romania was a work in progress due to it’s transition to capitalism. Raluca commuted everyday to a public school in a wealthy neighborhood where she received an advanced curriculum of French, Science, and Humanities. Raluca’s future looked promising, as a high school diploma was not enough to provide financial security. At the age of thirteen, Raluca had access to computers and the Internet considering her country valued education. In fourth grade, Raluca continued to receive a high-quality education and an advanced curriculum in Bucharest. In order to stay in a superior school, Raluca had to do well on extremely difficult exams at the end of fourth grade. In Romania, during 2003, the structure of the education system was, to an extent, hard to understand. The various schooling system consisted of pre-school education, primary school, lower secondary school, high school, vocational school, apprentice school, long-term higher education, short-term education, post secondary school, and post graduate school. Children entered pre-school education between the ages of three and six. At the age of six, the child entered primary education, which was the first four years of compulsory education. According to the 2003 amendment to the Education law, children entered school at the age of six. However, children had the option to begin their compulsory education at the age of seven at the family’s request or before the age of six if ... ...a implemented a three-cycle structure, with completion in a minimum of ten years. Romania, overtime, began the process of educational reform. Since this occurred, the population of student growth in schools increased dramatically. Resources for education also improved overall, with the adoption of new curriculum. However, the Romanian education system was slow to change due to efforts and budgets were limited. As a future educator, I would thoroughly enjoy working in Romanian schools. Even though the resources and technologies may not be available, student objectives and curriculum are in place, ensuring student success. A quote from an unknown source reads, â€Å"The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book.† From my point of view, as long as the student feels safe and comfortable, while having the will and motivation to learn, anything can happen.

Our project consists of several parts: Company review History of company Market strategies The review of competitors PESTLE analysis Cultural overview Action plan Our product is â€Å"Boredom† and â€Å"Boredom Spring†. Our destination market is Israel. The reason we chose this country is the shortage of water which faces the population. Through direct exporting activities† Boredom† will gain the valuable experience and expertise about working internationally. The disadv antages for direct exporting should be the complexity of logistics and distribution channels. â€Å"Boredom† will need to build up some export organization which solves all these problems on Its behalf. This organization will have to communicate with these parties to thrive sales.Joint Venture the same production lines and have the same aims. In addition, while using this market entry mode there is a possibility to have conflicts with your local partners, agency problems that arise when one party is expected to act in another's best interests. It has the second-largest number of startup companies in the world (on the first place is U.S) and the largest number of NASDAQ-Sited companies outside North America But it's crucial that Israel's economy has undergone a radical change over the last several decades from an economy based on agriculture and small businesses, which are producing a wide variety of highly demanded products that are marketed worldwide. Also Israel's banking system is advanced and well- developed, with branch connections all over the world, and it provides the business sector all the services it requires. The economy is also strengthening by the legal system which Israel has developed. However, Israel has suffered from a chronic water shortage for years. The causes of water shortage are both natural and man- made. Israel has suffered from four consecutive years of drought. The increase in demand for water for domestic uses, that co mes from the growth of population and the rising standard of living, together with the need to supply water pursuant to sources. The agricultural sector has suffered most because of this water crisis. Due to the shortage, water allocations to the sector had to be reduced drastically causing a reduction in the agricultural productivity.Company includes 4 brands: â€Å"Boredom†, â€Å"Alkali†, â€Å"Boredom Springs† and â€Å"Baking†. Petersburg Golden Medal 2005 ISO 22000 REVIEW OF COMPETITORS IN ISRAEL Our product â€Å"Boredom†, which we are going to launch into the market in Israel, has several competitors. Those are: Genesis, Me Eden, Invention. It is very important to keep up with them and even to do better than they do.These companies Genesis Genesis Waters is an import company devoted to suppor ting Israel by introducing bottled water entirely produced in Israel to the American market. Much of the proceeds from Genesis Waters are donated to organizations that help Israel's victims of terror rebuild their lives. Genesis is created to support Israel. Genesis means â€Å"new beginning†, and in response to the devastating attacks upon the citizens of Israel, company donates a significant portion of our profits to organizations hat help Israel's victims of terror rebuild their lives. Also every ounce of excess water resulting from the bottling of the product is recycled to supply local agricultural settlements with water, helping to keep the Land of Israel â€Å"green†. This is a high-end mineral water that is sourced since Biblical times. The natural mineral water originates from an artesian source providing natural mineral water that is pure, mild, naturally balanced and enriched with the most precious constituents offered by nature. This premium water is low in mineral salts, trace elements and carries more nutrients to the body and helps it more easily expel toxins ND excess minerals.Me Eden Me Eden is the brand name of the company Eden Springs Ltd. Which is an Israeli mineral water marketing company. It is a leading mineral water company in Israel. The brand and company were created in 1980 after development of the Salvia wellspring in Katharine, Goals Heights. After additional tests with the wellspring water, Me Eden received permission to market its water in 1983. Me Eden has recently started to product water coolers, water container holders and disposable cups as well. The company is engaged in the production and marketing of natural mineral eater distribution, water is the pioneer companies in Israel.Eden is proud to take credit for the development and delivery of water consumption culture in Israel and also believe that drinking natural mineral water is the basis of a way of life healthy distribution of natural mineral water Jugs at home or office. The company currently serves more than 130 thousand customers in Israel. But it should be noted that bottling was halted after tests showed bacteria levels exceeded limits set by state regulators. The company said it was carrying out tests in coordination with the Ministry of Health and assured consumers that water already on sale was fit to drink. In February 2009, pollution forced Eden and a rival company, Invention, to halt and recall bottled water from stores. Eden said later the incident had caused the company losses of between 22 million and 125 million. Invention Invention is a leading manufacturer and distributor of natural mineral water in Israel. The company's innovative range of products includes both bottled water products and water cooler dispensers for private and office use in a wide range of sizes and styles. In 2006, Invention+ was launched – a product line based on Invention mineral water tit added vitamins and light flavors. In May 2011, Inve ntion began to produce natural mineral water from a mountain aquifer in the Upper Galilee. The advanced drilling technology utilized in this process is similar to that of the leading European mineral water companies. Using this innovative system, Invention is reaching water while it is still pure in the depths of the earth. Invention pledges to provide its customers with natural mineral water of the very highest quality. The Invention factory in Karat Samoan operates the most advanced technologies in the world while maintaining the highest reduce quality. All manufacturing and filling lines are operated without the need for human intervention. Every day, 150 tests are carried out on the filling lines to ensure that the products are of the highest quality. In addition to the checks carried out by the company, it is audited by authorized external organizations to ensure that the highest quality standards are always met. Having said that it is crucial for our market entry to know everyt hing about them and do our best and at least gain a market place near them. All of the competitors stated above have a strong reputation among customers, because they remain on markets for years.Israel water purifying, recycling technology makes world markets take notice, as local companies introduce new development to what will become a $10 billion a year market by 2015. So it's going to be a huge challenge for us to be competitive, but not impossible. PESTLE ANALYSIS OF ISRAEL Political Political Structure representation and universal suffrage. Chief of State is President Simon Peres; the president is the head of state; the office symbolizes the unity of the state and carries high prestige and moral force, above and beyond party politics. The president (head of state) is elected by the Knees for a 5-year term.Head of Government is Prime Minister Benjamin Entertain. Its governmental system is based on several basic laws enacted by its unicameral parliament, the Knees. The prime min ister exercises executive power and has in the past been selected by the president as the party leader most able to form a government. Between May 1996 and March 2001, Israelis voted for the prime minister directly. (The legislation, which required the direct election of the prime minister, was rescinded by the Knees in March 2001 . ) The embers of the cabinet must be collectively approved by the Knees. The Knees serves as Israel's unicameral legislative body. Its 120 members are elected by secret ballot to 4-year terms, although the prime minister may decide to call for new elections before the end of the 4-year term. Voting is for party lists rather than for individual candidates, and the total number of seats assigned each party reflects that party's percentage of the vote. Successful Knees candidates are drawn from the lists in order of party-assigned rank. Under the present electoral system, all members of the Knees are elected at large. Israel is divided into six districts, adm inistration of which is coordinated by the Ministry of Interior. The Ministry of Defense is responsible for the administration of the occupied territories. Major Parties In Parliament Israel's political system is based on proportional representation which allows for a multi-party system with numerous parties. There are currently five parties with more than ten seats in the 120-seat Knees, and a single party usually has no chance of gaining power by itself (only once has a party held an absolute majority in the Knees), forcing the parties to cooperate and form coalition governments. This article lists the political parties in Israel. ACADIA is a centrist and liberal political party in Israel. It was established on 24 November 2005 by moderates from Liked largely to support the issue of Riel's unilateral disengagement plan, and was soon Joined by like-minded Labor politicians. With Thud Elmer as party chairman following Sharon stroke, it became the largest party in the Knees after the 2 006 elections, winning 28 of the 120 seats, and led a coalition government. LIKED is the major centre-right conservative political party in Israel. It was founded in 1973 in an alliance with several right- ins and liberal parties. In 2009 elections, the party won 27 seats, and now leads the Israeli government under Prime Minister Entertain.A member of the party is often called a Liking WISELY BETTING is a nationalist political party in Israel. The party's base has traditionally been secular, Russian-speaking Israelis. The party describes itself as â€Å"a national movement with the clear vision to follow in the brave path of Cave from the former Soviet Union, it has also expanded its appeal to a more veteran Israeli public. It takes a strong line towards the peace process and the integration f Israeli Arabs, characterized by its 2009 election slogan â€Å"No loyalty, no citizenship†.Its main platform includes recognition of the two-state solution, the creation of a Palestini an state that would include an exchange of some largely Arab- inhabited parts of Israel for largely Jewish-inhabited parts of the West Bank. The party maintains an anti-clerical mantle and encourages socio-economic opportunities for new immigrants, in conjunction with efforts to increase Jewish immigration. In the elections the party won 15 seats, its most to date, making it the third largest party in the Knees. Legal System JUDICIARY: THE COURT SYSTEM The Judiciary is entirely independent.Judges are appointed by the president upon recommendation of a special nine-person committee composed of three Supreme Court Justices, two members of the Israeli Bar and four public figures (I. E. Government ministers, Knees members). Judges receive appointments for life, with retirement at age 70. Although legislative competence is wholly within the Knees, the Supreme Court can and does call attention to the desirability of legislative changes; sitting as the High Court of Justice, it has the aut hority to determine hither a law properly conforms to the Basic Laws of the state. The Court System Israel has a three-tier court system. At the lowest level is Magistrate Court, situated in most cities across the country. Above them are District Court, serving both as appellate courts and courts of first instance; they are situated in five of Israel's six districts. The third and highest tier is the Supreme Court, located in Jerusalem; it serves a dual role as the highest court of appeals and the High Court of Justice. In the latter role, the Supreme Court rules as a court of first instance, allowing individuals, OTOH citizens and non-citizens, to petition against the decisions of state authorities.Although Israel supports the goals of the International Criminal Court, it has not ratified the Rome Statute, citing concerns about the ability of the court to remain free from political impartiality. Israel's legal system combines three legal traditions: English common law, civil law and Jewish law. It is based on the principle of precedents and is an adversarial system, where the parties in the suit bring evidence before the court. Court cases are decided by professional Judges rather than Juries. Marriage and divorce are under the Jurisdiction of the religious courts: Jewish, Muslim, Drupe, and Christian.A committee of Knees members, Supreme Court Justices, and Israeli Bar members carries out the election of Judges. Administration of Israel's courts (both the situated in Jerusalem. Both General and Labor courts are paperless courts: the storage of court files, as well as court decisions, is conducted electronically. Israel's Basic Law: Human Dignity and Liberty seeks to defend human rights and liberties in Israel. Israel is the only country in the region ranked â€Å"Free† by Freedom House based on the level of civil liberties and political rights; the â€Å"Palestinian Authority-Administered Territories† was ranked â€Å"Not Free.
